Today is the Independence Day of Korea (광복절, 光復節) but it feels just like another Saturday. No celebration, no fireworks.
Although this public holiday falls on a Saturday, it is a law here that people are not compensated with another weekday off. As such, next week will still be a full 5-day work week.
I spent my afternoon today at Jonggak's Yeongpung Bookstore. I bought two novels which will go into the box to be sent home.
There was some musical performance at the Seoul Plaza in the evening. It is not a performance meant to celebrate 광복절 but an on-going cultural performance at the plaza. The lawn at the plaza was warm after a very hot day.
