브루나이 갔다왔어

This is the second time that I have visited the Empire Hotel but none of the time did I stay there. Nonetheless, I always like to visit its lobby and man-made lagoon. The view from inside or outside of the hotel is just beyond words.

This royal carriage, displayed in the Royal Regalia Building, was used during the coronation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. An extravagant piece of art. You can watch a short clip of this carriage at youtube.

Lifted off the brochure, the Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque is the largest mosque in Brunei Barussalam. It was built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of His Majesty's reign. The mosque looks magnificient at night with its lightings.

In the heart of Gadong, one of the few shopping districts in Brunei, traffic was slow but there wasn't any jam. The weather was hot but not hot enough to be baked. The sky was definitely more blue in Brunei.

  2. Well, as they say pictures can be deceiving ;)
Brunei, like any other places, is as beautiful as how you would want to see it.
Becos' I think it is beautiful so the pictures I took would naturally turn out something beautiful.
One thing worth mentioning is that Brunei has the most beautiful and magnificient mosque in this region.
You are right, Brunei is not known to be a tourist destination so of course I am not there for tour. I am there because of work :)

  3. Hi Equinox
I like the pictures you took of Brunei and you are right in saying about how the beauty that picture projects coming out from how you yourself see it.

If i may correct your caption with regards to the royal cariage, this particular carriage that you see in the Royal Regalia was used during the coronation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. So this is a coronation carriage and not used any other times. In ancient times the sultans had their own carriages albeit for coronation or any other purpose. BTW there is a short clip on youtube when this carriage was used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6STeU6Zvwg

Anyway, thank you for a lovely post on brunei. Hope u had fun visiting Brunei.

  4. Hi Siawang, thanks for dropping by. I believe that Brunei has a lot of potential to be a tourist destination. However, it is currently untapped. I wish I could take more beautiful pictures of Brunei but I have very little free time during my visit. I must also thank you for pointing out my mistake with regard to the carriage. I have already amended the caption.
