괴로운 표정

Want to know how I look these days. Look to the left.

TOPIK is tomorrow and I am having headache now. My head is feeling heavy from all the cramping of notes. That's why I am not writing any Korean today.

I have a realistic expectation of what I will get out of my TOPIK exam. My strength lies in vocabulary, grammar and reading. But I doubt they can help mitigate my weakness in listening and writing. TOPIK level 3 pass will be the likely outcome.

I have come to realise that preparing for TOPIK is actually more difficult than KLPT. With all the study done for TOPIK, I have set a 300 points target for next month KLPT though my ambitious target is 350 points.

  1. hi Equinox.

    i've been reading your blog for quite some time before my first comment here.

    several days ago you posted an article which made use of the expression "미역국을 먹".

    i looked it up in a dictionary for its meaning and that saved me when i was taking the advanced test this morning. thank you!

    the intermediate level is held in the afternoon. hope you get a good score. in fact i feel that you could even challenge the advanced level for your vocabulary is huge enough...

  3. Hello Thomas,
    Oh! So you are one of the four who took the advanced TOPIK test last Sunday. Glad to know my article has been of help to you. ^^
    As for myself, I think I will still be "eating seawood soup". ㅠㅠ
    Frankly, most of the vocabulary you see in my blog comes from dictionary. Take away the dict and I will be helpless. I have more to learn. I hope I can take a shot at the advanced test next year.

    Hello Jean,
    If you can find the meaning of this Korean idiom "미역국을 먹다", you will probably know how well I fared. I believe you can definitely reach my level. It is just a matter of time and best of all, you have a lot of time in your hand. The best has yet to come :D

  4. Hello Equinox,
    Yes it's of great help to me. I understand that you know Chinese well thus you've already got the huge 한자어 vocabulary. Be confident with youself. You will be able to pull'em off. Btw I am living in Japan now and there *is* this soup called "seawood miso soup" here. Delicious one. I love it ;-)

  5. I thought you were one of the four students who took the advanced TOPIK in SKS. So I made a wrong association. ^^;;

    I am quite sure that "seawood miso soup" is not only delicious, it also gives you the fibres that your body needs. 마음껏 드세요. 저는 절대로 먹지 않습니다. ㅎㅎㅎ

  6. 이번 시험결과가 나올 때까지 안 먹기로 했습니다. 아직 미끄러지고 싶지 않는데요. well i suggest we stay off the topic 미역국 and i'll comment somewhere else. ㅎㅎ;;

  7. 원숭이도 나무에서 떨어지는 수가 있잖아요. 무슨 결과든지 한국어를 복습하는 셈이다 :)
